Journey: noun: “passage or progress from one stage to another” We each have a journey to take and to complete in life. For some that journey is a simple and short one, for others it’s more complicated and long. Whatever your journey is and where it is you want it to take you, you have to begin somewhere. A journey brings change, but not a bad change, it’s a good change. Much like when the caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly, we each must make changes in our lives, in ourselves in order to become that beautiful butterfly that we are each capable of. Or in this sense, we must make those changes to wake our wolf. For some, there is a starting point, for others, they don’t know where to start. Or perhaps they know where to start, but they don’t know how to start. That is the point of Waking the Wolf, it’s design to help each one find a place to start that change, to waking that wolf or at the very least the tools to get started. Over all, where is the best place to start? Yourself. When I decided to take this journey, I knew I needed to first figure out what it was I wanted to work on, before I could figure out how to work on it. For me, my journey will be a long one; I have many areas of my life that I want to work on, to change in order for me to wake my wolf. For you, it may be a long one; it may even be a short one, but only you can decide that. As I said, the best place to start is with you. Here is what I am doing and how I am doing it, hopefully it will give you an idea of where to and how to start your own journey. For me, I knew what I wanted to change. I love that I’m compassionate, caring, thoughtful, supportive, curious, filled with wonder and that I’m strong enough to push through anything if I put my mind to it. I love that I have a strong faith in God and that I know I can rely on my faith to get me through. I see myself as positive, trying to always find the light, even in the darkness. However, I’ve become a push over, let my guard down, I’ve stopped setting boundaries, I get upset easily and stressed out by taking on too much. It’s ok for me to say no and it’s ok for me to not complete everything in one day, but I struggle with that. I get overloaded by negativity easily and I don’t feel as if I can take care of myself at times. I also feel as if I am not as connected to God as I want to be. I get distracted easily by the current events in my life and in the world. Knowing all this, I knew what I needed to change about myself, I knew how to wake my own wolf. For me, those areas are:
That’s looks like a lot, I’m sure, but it’s what I know I need to work on within myself. Even then, it goes a lot deeper than just those things; I understand that I need to get down and real with myself to make those changes. So I broke some of those down and honestly, some even cross over into each other. Emotionally – control my emotions again, working on being positive and less on being stressed. Setting boundaries and being ok with standing up for myself in the right now. Using my true voice and not letting anyone silence me. True strength does not come from yelling at people or belittling them, it comes from knowing when to walk away, when to calmly handle a situation and how to properly manage my emotions. Mentally – Getting my mind right, setting those boundaries, not over reacting, letting go of negative ideas and actions that aren’t serving the higher good. Knowing when to walk away, instead of reacting or picking a fight. Holding respect for myself and valuing myself more. Spiritually – spending more time with God, holding tight to my faith, trusting in God and the plans that He has for me. Physically – focusing on my physical health, losing weight, getting my body back in sync, taking time to eat health and work out and tending to my body’s needs: like chiropractor and acupuncture, instead of putting it off. My Goals and Dreams – refocusing on my photography, getting back on track to launch it as a business. Learning more about Liberty and horsemanship, improving my riding skills and start moving to where I can canter and not be afraid. These are my areas that I want to improve and the specific areas in each that I want to address. Your areas maybe different and there may also be similar areas for you as well, whatever those areas are for you that you need to address in order to wake your wolf and find your voice, only you can decide. This is the first step in starting your journey…figuring out what you want to work on and what you want to improve. The next step is the action piece. It’s where you figure out what it will take to complete each task you have set for yourself to work on and to once and for all wake the wolf within you. So what areas are you wanting to change within you? What do you need to do to find your voice and let it out? What do you need to do within you to take back your confidence, your power, your strength, your dreams…to waken YOUR wolf?

Loyalty, patience, compassionate, leader, wise, courageous, strong, determined, protective, fierce, a fighter, intelligent, balance, self-control, passion, community, mystery, instinct.
These are all the things that the wolf represents and is. It’s also every part of who we are to be and the traits we are to hold close. We each have a part of us that is that wolf, it’s that part of us that we may have put on hold, or quieted or even sent to sleep for the comfort of others. But it’s time; it’s time to wake that wolf and to harness that part of ourselves that is as powerful and as wondrous as the wolf. A wolf lives in peace and harmony with the world around it and loves its pack; it cares for it, protects it, and guides it. It works together to help it thrive. It never looks for danger, but it is ready to act in moments of danger. The wolf knows the importance of carefully using its strength to address a threat. It hunts with cunning and wisdom. It’s the utter definition of balance as it knows when to act and when to react. We as humans, as women and as men have the same ability within us. But for some of us our wolf sleeps until we realize how much we need them. How much they are a part of us. It’s time; it’s time to waken the wolf in each of us, to bring about a positive change in our lives so that we can help bring about a positive change in the world. For each of us, our packs are our family, however for this journey, our packs are each other. Helping each other, find ourselves, waken our power, harassing it, and using it to change our lives and the world around us in a positive way. We will lead in ways that we know how and build on that, we will inspire each other to be the very best wolf that we can be, so that we can be the very best leaders of our families that we can be. For some we have already started that journey, for some we have yet to start. The purpose of Waking the Wolf is to help each and every one of us to start or complete that journey. The purpose is to support each other, to encourage each other, to be each other’s guide and protectors. We are to inspire one another and to help one another lead with confidence. The goal is to share our light with the world around us. So where are YOU on your journey? Have you started yet? Do you have yet to start? Each ones journey will be different and yet similar. We each will have things we will need to do, in order to waken the wolf. Now ask yourself these questions: What have you done for yourself lately? How have you taken care of yourself? Have you used your voice when you feel wronged or when your boundaries have been crossed? How have you handled situations that have risen? Have you given into negativity? Or are you boast positivity? What steps are you taking to make the changes in your life and waken your wolf? What steps do you need to take to find your power, to find your voice? These are all things that we must ask ourselves, before we can begin any journey. My hope is that you will find your inspiration here as I take my journey to reawaken my wolf that is sleeping within me. My hope is that you will find a pack here that will support you and encourage you. Whether you need a lot of help or a little help, my hope is that you will find that here. While this blog is meant for me to share my journey with you, I have created a Facebook group called Waking the Wolf, that will allow us all to come together and form our own pack, a place for find our voice and to encourage each other. I hope you will join me there and help spread the word, so we can build our own pack, so we can find our own power and so we can start working towards changing this world in a big and positive way! It’s time, it’s time to answer the call, it’s time to Waken the Wolf, will you join me? |
